The qualifiers were crowded with skilled teams - SK Gaming , fnatic , Lag Blank and five more were put into two groups, battling it out for the playoffs.
Surprisingly enough, SK got in the same group as Blank, which are yet to shine with Christopher 'GeT_RiGhT' Alesund
as their new fifth. Was it outstanding skill demonstrated by SK, or
nervousness shown by Blank, the match ended with the score of 16-3 in
the favor of the first team.
In the other group, the famous team fnatic took home all the efforts of
other skilled mixes and went straight to the playoffs, upsetting only
by a draw against fanboyz . The latter also advanced.
In the semifinals, SK were no match for fanboyz, storming them on two
maps with a total score of 32-3. Fnatic experienced some trouble
against Blank, but got through as well, winning 16:7 and 16:12.
After advancing to the final, both SK and fnatic already got the ESWC
Grand Final slots grounded, but the decider was still to come - the
first place is a paid slot.
In a weird decision by ESWC Sweden orga, the outcome of the first place
was to be decided in a best of one match on de_train. After a mirrored
game, ending 15:15, SK proved to be stronger that day by winning the
overtime 4:0.
ESWC Sweden results:
1st - SK Gaming - the paid slot to the ESWC Grand Final in San Jose.
2nd - fnatic - the second slot to the ESWC Grand Final in San Jose.
3-4th - Blank / fanboyz.
